Yining Feng Successfully Defends Doctoral Dissertation
Yining Feng, PhD candidate in Rural Sociology and Demography (dual-title), successfully defended her doctoral dissertation on October 4, 2024. Her dissertation topic is: The disaster migration continuum: how mobility, immobility, and population recovery unfold through vulnerability and spatiotemporal dynamics. Her dissertation extends current research on natural disaster migration. It moves from a quantitative literature review (meta-analysis), which recognizes the existing evidence on disaster migration, to the deployment of a new, large-scale dataset (Infutor data) that tracks and quantifies the disaster migration continuum. She also applied computational analysis to model patterns of post-disaster displacement and the timing of return migration.
